That way when it is determined that the web host is not suitable for your website you can terminate your web hosting contract without incuring expenses.

Email Administration - As ridiculous as this may sound, some cheap web host provider do not even give you access to email administration. You cannot even set your own vacation notice and so forth. Don't sign on with these companies if this is the case because you should never agree to allow any web host to control your communication and administrative rights.

Database Administration - Databases are necessary for e-commerce websites where customer's information are collected and stored in a databases. Basic brochure website would not require database administration unless you have a login function where you store names and passwords. When my attempts to install the SSL certificate failed I contacted my web host for support, and they informed me that I cannot use a third party SSL certificate. I was told that I need to purchase their SSL certificate at $50 per month ($600 per year) plus a one time fee of $75 for the certificate installation. Customer Support - Customer support is important to inexperience users and if you are new at administering to your website you should make sure that whomever you choose to host your website they should have both email and voice customer support.
